For some reason we’ve been having problems with YNFVGB’s feed. I’m not sure if you guys tried to subscribe but if you did then you will notice it’s not working so well. Because of this the podcast wouldn’t work properly with iTunes so I created a whole new blog for our podcast along with a new name for it. As the title suggests the new name for our podcast is “Your New Favorite Video Game Podcast” a.k.a “YNFVGP.” I’ve created a link over in the left sidebar under “YNFVGB Links” which will take you to the podcast’s blog. Steam

In case you haven’t heard…Steam holds the future of PC gaming in it’s hands. Steam is brought to us by Valve, makers of the Half-Life, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike series’. Steam is an online community very similar to Xbox Live but available on your PC. No, it’s not like Windows Live, it’s much better. Steam lets you do many things such as create friends lists, buy games, download demos, download videos, join groups, create profiles, and much, much more. The best part about it is that it’s FREE. You can see what a friend is playing just like what you see on Live. Steam is very convenient as it lets you download and launch games right through it. I had heard about Steam a while back and finally decided to give it a try. Too bad it took me this long as it is making me want to get back into PC gaming this instant. The first game we bought through Steam was Peggle. I just browsed through the store and found the game I wanted and downloaded the demo. Once finished with the demo I downloaded the full game. If you own a PC (like everyone else on the earth) then I suggest you download it and set up an account now. No credit card is necessary. Even if you don’t necessarily have a gaming computer Steam gives you everything from the hardcore to the casual so trust me…you need to download it now. Through Steam I’ve created a profile which you can visit and add me as a friend. I also created a group specifically for fans of YNFVGB. Just set up an account with Steam then come and join the YNFVGB group. In this group I will post announcements and also host chats. We have a YNFVGB chat room right in there. I’ve also included a link to the group in the left sidebar under “YNFVGB Links.” I am very excited to have finally downloaded Steam and I hope you guys will take the time to try it out and join the YNFVGB group. I’d love to get some chat rooms going every once in a while so we can just talk about games all night. Expect a chat to take place in the very near future.

YNFVGB Calendar Updates

Just to let you guys know, I’ve added a better Movie Release Date calendar to the YNFVGB Calendar. Just click on the movie reel to have a window pop up with the releases for that day. Pretty nifty. In addition to that I’ve added a new DVD Release Date calendar. To view the DVD releases for a specific day (usually Tuesday) just click the purple DVD Releases rectangle and it will pop up with a list of the DVD releases for that day. Click “More Details” for a better view. Lastly I’ve added a simple US Holidays calendar which is shown in green. Enjoy!!

Technical Difficulties

We are experiencing some technical difficulties with the pages and we are aware that a “404 Not Found” error shows up when you click on them. We are working on a solution as I write this and hopefully it will be resolved by sometime tomorrow. Sit tight!

As you guys may have heard, I’ve been graced with the opportunity to be on the well-known 1UP.com podcast known as “1UP Yours.” After contacting Garnett Lee, producer of 1UP Yours through facebook and telling him about YNFVGB 1UP felt it was time to get a fan onto the podcast. This has honestly been a dream of mine for a long time as I listen to 1UP Yours every week. Recording will begin on the 11th and should be posted in the 1UP Yours section of 1UP.com late Friday. New Commenting System by Intense Debate

I’ve added a new commenting system courtesy of Intense Debate. With this new system you can have profiles, reputation/comment voting, social traffic drive, threaded comments, and more. Jut go to intensedebate.com to sign up and create your profile you can then upload your picture, once you’ve signed up you can add friends and give reputation to fellow commenters. If your not interested in signing up you can still comment but you can’t give thumbs up or add commenters to your friends list. I really like this system a lot and I hope you guys do too. I think it’s going to be fun. Sing up and then try it out by commenting below.

I’ve added two more page tabs for you guys. The “Portal” tab is the flash version of Portal and the “DTD” tab is the game “Desktop Tower Defense” which is definitely worth trying out. Enjoy!!

Great News!!

Hey guys,

Great news, we have the opportunity to be hosted by IGN.com. Our blog was accepted to be a part of the Gamespy planets network of sites. We are currently in the process of alot of different technical aspects with the move. We will probably be moving over to wordpress as they can integrate it into the IGN hosting dashboard. Right now I have no idea when we will be finished but my goal is to work on it over the weekend as much as possible.

This is a great opportunity for us and I just want to thank everyone for visiting the site faithfully and thank you for your continued support. We hope to bring all of you with us to our next home at Gamespy. Please continue to support us and if you have any suggestions feel free to email us at ynfvgb@gmail.com. If there is anyone out there who is a wordpress fanatic please drop me and email. I’m new to wordpress and want to make the best of it. YNFVGB Job Board and Amazon Store

In case you guys haven’t noticed I’ve added two new links under the “YNFVGB Links” section in the sidebar. One is for the YNFVGB Job Board powered by SimplyHired. This job board is specific to jobs I think relate best to the site and the interests of our readers. Make sure you stop by and see what’s available. For people looking to hire you can post your job on the board for only $25 a month. I’ve also included a banner to the Job Board under the donate button.

As for the “YNFVGB Amazon Store” link, if you purchase things through this store YNFVGB will receive up to 10% of the total. I’ve added a donate button to the sidebar for anyone who is interested in donating to YNFVGB. I’m not convinced yet that people are into the whole donating deal but if you like what you see here and are a fan then please take time to show us some love. What's Up?

I just want to fill you in on the latest happenings on the site and in my life. My wife came back from Poland on Sunday night. We spent Monday together playing some PSN games and then it was the usual work days for Tuesday and Wednesday. Then I came down with a bad fever, sore throat, and headache deal so I was out cold all day Thursday. I wanted to make sure I was 100% for the company ski trip to Stowe, VT so I took meds and slept all day. Luckily after a full day of rest I was good for work on Friday. After work we started our trek to Vermont. The trip was only supposed to take 3 1/2 hours but instead took almost 5 1/2 because of the bad weather. We got there late and just went to bed. Kurt also joined us on the trip and we had a great two full days of snowboarding on Saturday and Sunday and came home Sunday night. Pictures will be up in our web albums soon and I will include a link in this post later. The wife and I are itching to play the new DLC for GRAW 2 and we’ve also been addicted to PixelJunk Monsters. All-in-all there hasn’t been much to play lately. Kurt has also been really busy traveling for work related reasons so he hasn’t been able to give you his daily dose either. Now that the wife is back and we got the Vermont trip out of the way we should be settling down and writing regularly. I really try hard to make sure our posts are unique so it’s not always easy when it’s slow because I don’t want to just grab and take whatever is out in the news feeds. That is why I came up with YNFVGB News which takes the good stuff and throws it into one feed. I’ve also been dealing alot with the behind-the-scenes aspect of the blog trying to get the word out and such, signing up for blog communities and so on. I’ve really been trying to get YNFVGB a part of the B5Media network of blogs but I haven’t heard back from them yet. I also am considering having another writer tag along to complete the tri-force that we call the “YNFVGB Family.” I will write an official post about what we are looking for soon. We do have alot of great games to look forward to in the future and I am always looking for new ways to make the site better so please continue your support by visiting the site regularly and participating in the forums. The forums will continue to grow if we can just get that initial group of faithful forumers to arrive. So far we have about 7. The forums are also a good way to keep the YNFVGB community active when there isn’t much going on in the outside world of gaming. I really wanted to come up with a logo for YNFVGB and after thinking and sketching for a while I found a way to incorporate all of the letters into a nice compact logo. You will see the logo change often but the shape will always stay the same. This is now the official ynfvgb.com logo so spread it around! YNFVGB Podcast Returns (for real this time!)

Hey guys, lately we’ve been having a lot of problems getting the podcast to download through iTunes. We finally figured out the problem (we mean it this time!) It was a problem with where we were hosting the podcast. We’ve since then changed file hosts and created a separate blog where we will host the podcasts. There is no need to go there but if you guys want to check it out its ynfvgbpodcast.blogspot.com. This will strictly be used to host the podcast. I’ve just received approval from iTunes and the podcast is now available through iTunes. Just click the link below and it will launch iTunes automatically and bring you to the YNFVGB Podcast page where you can subscribe to the podcast:

You may have noticed I just added a calendar in the sidebar of the blog down towards the bottom. This calendar will be updated frequently with the latest video game and movie released dates. I will also included events that I think you guys would like to know about like E3, GDC, and so on. I don’t swear by the dates but I will only post them if I feel they are 99% accurate. YNFVGB Podcast Details

Hey guys, sorry for all of the confusion. We have been having very inconsistent problems with the podcast. I know I kept telling you that I fixed it but I was always mislead because it would work for a day and then the next day it wouldn’t. Well, I promise you this time I have finally figured out the problem, but there is no solution as of yet. The problem was on MediaFire’s end (where I host my audio files) and they are working on a solution as I write this. For anyone interested: The problem was that after a day or so the podcast links (the actual .mp3 links) would redirect you to MediaFire’s site instead of bringing up a download box. In turn iTunes can’t use this redirect and needs the actual download box. There is no explanation for this as the links themselves do not change whatsoever. I like MediaFire too much to change hosts that is why I am being patient with them. Hopefully this issue will be resolved and we can finally bring you consistent podcasts for eternity. Hold tight and I will keep you guys updated.

YNFVGB Podcast Episode #1

The is the first episode of the official YNFVGB Podcast. I am very proud even though there are a few minor problems. Some problems I noticed include: Kurt might be hard to hear, the quality on his end wasn’t that great either because of the type of microphone he had to use. Next, I didn’t realize it till after we were done recording but the mic was too close to my mouth so it may sound weird at times. Other than that I am very proud of the podcast, I hope you guys enjoy it and please give us feedback here at the site. Leave a comment and let us know what you think. We are new to the whole podcast recording so I can promise you that things will only get better from here on out. New Look

Happy New Year from YNFVGB!! As you may have noticed we’ve made a few changes to the site’s layout. We hope you like the new layout. I thought the older layout looked sharp but it was too crunched. This layout is expanded more and I am happy with the way it turned out. We will pick back up with the regular posting tomorrow January 2nd so make sure you come back then. Thanks for helping us kick off the site in 2007 and we hope to continue to grow and expand exponentially throughout 2008.

YNFVGB 2008

Hey guys, I just wanted to let everyone know that we are working on some minor maybe major changes here for the site. We want to change up the layout a bit and maybe add some more stuff. Nothing too big but we want to have a new look ready for 2008. I will be working on the layout as much as possible and will have it done on Jan. 1st 2008. Hopefully sometime by the end of the day so make sure to check back that night. Greetings Folks!
This is Kurt and I’m honored to be asked by Pat to contribute to the awesomeness of this here blog. Since I was younger I have been passionate about cinema, gaming and music. I credit Pat with getting me back into gaming for the past 2 generations of consoles; many nights spent playing Mario Kart, Halo, Splinter Cell, and XIII on the cube.

So anyway, Pat has asked me to contribute items relating to the following: Deals in relation to Gaming, Movies, and Home Theatre. As a Christian you won’t see me posting any deals that require methods that are shady or ‘abusing the system’, like you see on other sites- only legit deals and sales. I’ll also be doing reviews and release date updates for DVD, HD-dvd, Blu-Ray, PS3, 360, Wii, and maybe a few albums here and there.
