Metal Gear Online Beta

So as I wrote in my earlier Metal Gear post I pre-ordered MGS4 therefore I was given a beta-key to partake in the Metal Gear Online Beta. After downloading millions of updates that took well over a few hours and signing up 20 times for my Konami ID, and waiting a week because of the delay, I finally played some Metal Gear Online. The first thing that I noticed was the amazing graphics. MGO is a beautiful game and I’m sure that MGS4 is going to look even better. MGO has a different pace than most people are used to. It’s a little slower and more tactical. So far there doesn’t seem to be much to it. Just the regular deathmatch, team deathmatch, defend, etc. game types. The first round of team deathmatch that I played my team actually won and I had the most kills. This made me like the game more. The second time I sat down with it I played TD again and my team won along with me being the top player again. I started to wonder what was going on. Maybe it’s the controls, maybe it’s the pace, maybe the Metal Gear regulars just aren’t used to online play. I’m not sure what the case is but I seem to do pretty good with MGO…for now. After you get used to the controls it’s gets pretty fun but to me it was fun in short bursts. After hearing the same moan after someone dies for the 20th time it got kind of annoying. I really wish there was some voice chat in the game so I can at least feel like I am playing against real people. I think this will be the biggest complaint from anyone who has played the beta. I hear that they recently released a new map and a new mode in which you can play as Snake. I haven’t played much of the beta lately because of GTA and life in general but I’ll make sure I sit down with it soon before it ends.
